About Patrice Truman, Esq., Jury & Trial Consultant
Patrice Truman is a national jury and trial consultant serving both plaintiff and defense attorneys in all areas of the law. Her work involves various aspects of pre-trial and post-trial jury research.
Truman holds several active memberships and contributes frequently to the legal community: She is a member of the American Society of Trial Consultants; a jury consultant advisor to the Civil Jury Project at NYU School of Law; and a Master-status member of the American Inns of Court (AIC), including the past service of a two-year term on the AIC’s National Program Awards Committee.
Other current memberships include the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Truman is also a former President of The Lawyers' Club of San Francisco. She served as chairperson for one of the Club’s Annual Retreats, which featured now U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. Additionally, she makes presentations to and shares her knowledge and experience with bar associations, law firms, legal organizations, in-house corporate legal departments, and law school trial advocacy classes.
A member of the State Bar of California (active status), Truman received her law degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, Kent College of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Before becoming a jury and trial consultant in 1993, she worked for two civil litigation firms. Other professional experience includes her work as a research associate and focuses group moderator at an international advertising agency in Chicago, where she gained knowledge in analyzing consumer research and assessing public sentiment within demographic parameters. Truman also participated in the formulation of advertising campaigns for clients such as Amoco Oil Company, The American Dairy Association, Hallmark Corporation, Kraft Foods, and other corporate clients.
In 1996, Truman founded Truman Jury & Trial Consulting, where she provides sought-after trial and jury consulting services. Presently, Truman writes a blog about jurors’ perceptions and trial advice, which is published on her LinkedIn page. In the past, she wrote a biannual newsletter, In Jurors’ Own Words, addressing jury dynamics, opinions, and attitudes arising from jurors’ post-trial reflections. Past newsletters are available here.
